UESTC campus is safe and all are in order
2008-5-14
The magnitude-7.8 quake hit the town of Wenchuan, 100 km away from the capital city of Sichuan Province, Chengdu. After the earthquake, UESTC startup the emergency plan immediately, setting up emergency command center with Prof. Shuxiang HU，Chairman of University Council and President Shoubin ZOU as two co-commanders. The other university leaders and principals of departments and schools hold their ground and stay in line of duty, leading students and teachers to the safe places，assuring the access to the logistic supplies as well as providing physiological tutoring. Up to now，the campus is safe and functions in order.

UESTC Students Awarded C-100 Leadership Scholarship

On April 8th, two UESTC students, Jin Yanfei, PH.D Student of School of Applied Mathematics and Li Xiaoyu, master student of School of Computer Science and Engineering of UESTC went to Tsinghua University for attending the Awarding Ceremony of Committee of 100(C-100) Scholarship of year 2008.

IEEE Vice President Visits

On 16th April, a delegation headed by Dr. Peter W. Staecker, Vice President (2007) of IEEE Technical Activities visited UESTC. Both parties exchanged information on the development status of IEEE and IEEE MTT-S in the meeting.

Delegates of ADI Visited UESTC

On 21st March, delegation headed by Mr.Yonghui Zheng, Vice president of Analog Devices, Inc. Asia paid a visit to UESTC. Ms. Jiahui Luo, Vice Chair of University Council met with the guests. Both parties thoroughly discussed the matters of enhancing cooperation.

ACCP Delegates visit

Six professors from Association of Chinese Canadian Professors (ACCP) located at Alberta University paid a visit to UESTC. Vice President Wang met the delegates and discussed the possibility of cooperation on talent training and scientific research.
